The Little Prince

On the face of it The Little Prince is a simple story. An aviator lost in the desert meets a boy who's been travelling between the planets looking for a sheep, along the way meeting all sorts of amazing characters. But look deeper and it is rich in deeper meaning, an allegory-filled treat perfect for people of every age. This is the spectacular new stage adaptation of French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s 200-million-seller novel, this time around performed in French with English surtitles. It has been translated into more than 500 dialects and languages, second only to be bible, and is loved in every country on the planet – which is why this particular production has already sold out in Paris, Sydney and Dubai as well as thrilling audiences on its Broadway run.

The libretto adapter and co-director is Chris Mouron, the composer Terry Truck, and the video designer Marie Jumelin. Costume design is by Peggy Housset, the lighting designer is Stéphane Fritsch, and the sound designer is Tristan Viscogliosi. Hair and makeup are by Carmen Arbues Miro, with video projection by Etienne Beaussart and props by Aurélie Gandilhon. The show is produced by Broadway Entertainment Group. As you can imagine the anticipation is already mounting. Your venue is the spectacular London Coliseum, this is the novel's 80th birthday, and we predict a huge theatreland family hit.

Il Piccole Principe
As a couple that have both enjoyed the book and the animated movie this was a very different adaptation! It's difficult since we've never attended a ballet before and this potentially wasn't our favourite medium but the lighting was beautiful, the dancers/costumes looked fantastic, the acrobatics impressive and the singing from the narrator towards the end was most definitely a highlight! It may not have been helped by the fact the dialogue was in French but having the subtitles above the screen was a very good idea (though maybe meant looking away from the performance more than we would like). For the money we paid it was a brilliant day out and a good excuse to go London!

Magic
Great show. It brought out the essence of The Little Prince. Best for people who know the themes and ideas of the story, but still soectacular if you don't.

Stunning
The dancers and acrobatic artists were beautiful. I was in awe watching. The choreography was lovely, as was the use of props. The music aided the story and I was mesmerised the whole time. Thank you.

A creative and magical interpretation of the book
Knowing the book helped me get the most out of the show. For me it’s a must read anyway. Unless you have some understanding of French then make sure you have a seat where you can see the subtitles. Go, enjoy and immerse yourself in the experience

Creative, colourful, compelling
Wonderfully inventive in all regards. Particularly entranced by the acrobatic and arial work.
