Swan Lake - State Ballet Of Georgia
Beautiful, lyrical ballet - Swan Lake
The all-time classic ballet Swan Lake is on stage at the London Coliseum for 2024, accompanied by one of the finest orchestras on earth, the Orchestra of the English National Opera. This is the State Ballet of Georgia’s sumptuous production of Tchaikovsky’s classic, brought to London for the first time in their 175 year history. The company is based at the famous Opera and Ballet State Theatre in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, where they’re renowned for incredibly versatile and accomplished performances.
Led by the internationally-respected Nina Ananiashvili, former prima ballerina with the Bolshoi Ballet and American Ballet Theatre, it involves a company of 70 along with stunning sets and costumes. Tchaikovsky would be thrilled at this spectacular full-length version of his beautiful score. The company hasn’t performed in the UK since 2008’s Edinburgh International Festival, making it an extra-special treat. You’ll be spellbound as the story of Prince Siegfried’s love for the Swan Queen Odette unfolds and you witness the sheer drama of their battle against the evil sorcerer Rothbart.

I can’t fault the show, although I wasn’t familiar with the story. It was my first time at a ballet and it was a good show, unfortunately I found the seats very uncomfortable and a distraction.
