The magical stage adaptation of Studio Ghibli's Spirited Away returns to London's Coliseum in March 2028, following its record-breaking 2024 West End season, which played to over 300,000 people and won Best New Play at the 2025 WhatsOnStage Awards alongside four Olivier Award nominations. The original movie's plot has been beautifully re-imagined for the stage by the respected Olivier and Tony Award-winning director of Les Misérables, John Caird, with extraordinary puppets, an amazing set, vivid costume designs, and a live orchestra playing the original film score by Joe Hisaishi.
True to the 2001 Japanese movie, the show follows Chihiro on her bizarre and charming quest through the spirit world to save her parents, who have mysteriously been transformed into pigs. Performed in the original Japanese with English surtitles, this is a rare chance to catch the production again in London. Prepare to be delighted, inspired and intrigued by what John Caird calls "Hayao Miyazaki's magical world of gods and frogs, dragons and sorcerers, giant-sized babies and bouncing heads, spider-armed boilermen, no-faced loners and a young girl's valiant quest for courage, identity and love."
