Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

You'd have to be made of stone not to respond to the delightful Charlie Bucket and his lovely granddad, who are as poor as church mice but as nice as pie. When young Charlie wins a golden ticket for a tour of Mr Willy Wonka's remarkable chocolate factory, the fun really begins. Charlie is only one of several winners but by the end of the tour he's a wholly different boy with an unexpectedly bright future.

Charlie's fellow child visitors Augustus Gloop, Mike Teavee, Veruca Salt and Violet Beauregarde all fall foul of Willie Wonka in the most horrid yet highly entertaining ways. The stage sets for this brilliant 1964 Roald Dahl kids' story are eye-popping, complete with lots of little green Oompa Loompas and the famously dizzying glass elevator.

It doesn't matter whether you're eight years old or a hundred and eight. You'll be charmed, amazed, entertained, brought to tears and laughter. No wonder the show has taken the Theatre Royal as its home. Few other theatres would be big enough to pack in the show's famously enormous nightly audiences. Magical and unforgettable, this one's a treat for anyone who loves the brown stuff.

Fantastic, great story, children was amazing!
The story was fantastic, as expected, and the child actors were brilliant. My advice would be to try to get central seats as our seats were to he side and some visibility was obscured, although again this can typically be expected from outer-seating. The final number was truly outstanding, but the rest of the score was not the best, yet by no means disappointing. A final criticism would be on the portrayal of Mr. Willy Wonka himself, we were not particulrly keen, but the performance was still solid and focused more closely on the traditional depiction of the famous character in Roald Dahl's original story. I would say this show is a must-see, for all ages but especially children, and if you love the book particularly then it is a must, must see!!!

Mind blowing! A must see for everyone
I was with my boyfriend and we absolute loved it!! A bit hard to understand in the beginning because of strong English accents and they spoke a bit fast, but otherwise everything was unbelievable!

Delightful stage
Absolutely loved it. Seen many shows in the west end but this one is one that will stick with me for a long time. All started well especially as I got a free upgrade to the front row of the Royal Circle. Couldn't have asked for better seats. The stage is something else. My only niggling point is the characters weren't warm enough. Hard to explain. I never felt connected to them. Maybe it was down to having original music rather than that of the film I don't know.
